An early 20th century oak cased aneroid barometer in a decorative form with inlay in the arts and crafts style c1920, with a 7” silvered register indicating barometric pressure from 28 to 31 inches with predictions, steel indicating hand and brass recording hand, dial inscribed “Pearce & Sons, Leeds, York and Leicester” within a brass bezel and flat bevelled glass, detachable surface mounted mercury thermometer within a glazed box recording the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit and Celsius.
Pearce & Son Jewellers are one of the county's longest established jewellers having been founded in 1838 by Mr. Henry Pearce, in Grantham, Lincolnshire, opening further shops in Huddersfield, Leeds, York and Leicester during the early 20th century.
