The Spring Art Sale

25/03/2022

Our first Fine Art sale of 2022 is now here, with over 260 paintings, drawings and prints by artists past & present, consisting of selected pictures from local, national & international estates and private vendors.

Featuring:

Ten important paintings by Constance-Anne Parker, direct from the artist's family and fresh to the open market.

Eighteen works by George Weatherill and his children Richard and Mary; comprising a local deceased estate that includes one of the largest paintings by George ever recorded, of museum quality and estimated at £10,000 - £15,000; a finely detailed and unusual oil by Mary of Robin Hood's Bay; four excellent quality oils by Richard, including an unusual view looking up the Esk towards Whitehall shipyard; and ten further watercolours by George.

A rare and unusual painting of Staithes, depicting not the harbour or beck but the High Street under moonlight, by Scottish artist William Pratt; consigned by a private Australian collector, it has travelled over 10,000 miles to return to where it was painted.

Nearly 40 works by members of the Staithes Group, to include: a large and exhibition quality oil of a Whitby jet worker by Albert George Stevens, one of his largest on record; two early oils of the Dutch coast and a large watercolour of Scarborough by Frank Henry Mason; two quality oils by rarer Group member James Watson; and more.

A good selection of portraits, including six by Leeds artist Philip Naviasky, and a rare self-portrait by Scarborough artist Neil Tyler, from his private collection.

A collection of still lifes and interior scenes.

Traditional landscape paintings from the 18th to the 20th century, by artists such as Charles Spencelayh, George Blackie Sticks, Robert Watson, and George Jones.
