Auctioneer's Note: Anna Meszaros came to England from her native Hungary in 1959 to marry an English businessman she met while demonstrating her art at the 1958 Brussels Exhibition. Shortly before she left for England she was awarded the title of Folk Artist Master by the Hungarian Government. Anna was a gifted painter of mainly portraits and sculptress before starting to make her figurines which are completely hand made and unique, each with a character and expression of its own.
