Highlights: Early National Camera Day Celebration - Exclusive Auction of a Vast Single Owner Collection

National Camera Day is just around the corner and we’re seizing the opportunity to celebrate these remarkable devices. Our upcoming Cameras, Maritime & Scientific Instruments auction promises an exquisite array of cameras, lenses and accessories, it’s a treasure trove for both seasoned collectors and budding enthusiasts.

At the heart of this sale is a large, single-owner collection of cameras, lenses and accessories, featuring a total of 81 lots. This remarkable collection belonged to Malcolm, whose lifelong passion for photography was evident in the care and dedication he put into maintaining his extensive collection.

Malcolm was born in a small mining village near Consett in Co Durham during the early 1930s and as he grew, so did his love for photography. Over the years, he amassed a collection of cameras, new, old and second-hand. Family holidays were punctuated by his requests: “Can you walk along the street again?” or “Jump in the water once more!” The resulting photos and films became cherished memories.

In retirement, Malcolm settled in Norfolk with his wife and focused on his photography. He joined the local photography club, frequented camera shops and would travel anywhere to rescue a particular item. His favourite brands were Canon, Leica, Yashica and Conta.
