This British oak-cased longcase clock by Benjamin Anns of Highworth, Wiltshire, dates back to around 1760. The clock features a distinctive shaped pediment and a square hood door flanked by two pilasters with brass capitals. The trunk of the clock showcases canted corners and a long flat-topped door, all resting on a rectangular plinth with applied decorative skirting.
The brass dial of the clock boasts intricate details, including an engraved dial centre, a seconds dial, a calendar aperture, and steel spade hands. The silvered chapter is adorned with Roman numerals and five-minute Arabic markers. The dial is directly pinned to a rack striking movement, which chimes the hours on a bell. This exceptional timepiece comes complete with its original weights and pendulum.
