Our upcoming Silver Sale brings together an impressive selection spanning the Georgian, Victorian and later periods, with craftsmanship to delight both collectors and those with a discerning eye.

Among the highlights is Lot 2500, a particularly fine Victorian silver trophy cup or goblet by Robert Hennell III, London 1863. Richly decorated with floral sprays, laurel leaf borders and a vacant cartouche, it rests upon an elaborately embossed stem and foot – a showcase of mid-19th century silversmithing at its best. Equally striking is a set of three late Victorian graduating silver baskets by William Comyns & Sons, London 1891, their navette forms enhanced with pierced quatrefoil sides and embossed floral rims. The sale also features a George II silver salver by William Peaston, London 1749, of classic pie crust form with later chased decoration and presentation engraving, offering a fine example of early Georgian silver.

Adding variety and charm is an early 20th century Chinese export silver cigarette case by Wang Hing, decorated in relief with a dragon and opening to reveal a gilt interior, alongside a Victorian vesta case depicting Japanese samurai warriors, and a whimsical late 20th century novelty vesta case modelled as a cat’s head with ribbon collar. For those seeking practicality as well as beauty, a substantial late 20th century canteen of silver cutlery for twelve by Argentum Ltd, Sheffield 1996, presented in its fitted mahogany case, rounds off the selection.

From fine 18th century tableware to playful novelties and complete services, this sale offers silver to suit every taste and collection.
