Our Affordable Art Sale showcases a broad range of paintings, watercolours and works on paper, offering the perfect opportunity to acquire original art at accessible estimates.

Highlights include Patrick Wybrant’s evocative Portrait of a Scarborough Cockle Seller, a watercolour dated 1850 that captures both character and local history, alongside Donald Gray Midgely’s atmospheric oil Sunset after the Storm – East Side Whitby. The Yorkshire coast is further celebrated in Chris Geall’s Sun on Sandsend, a signed oil on canvas that brings light and energy to the shoreline.

Further entries include John Mackie’s richly coloured The Village of Minerva, signed and dated 1999, and Pat Woolley’s striking Cubist composition Ploughing, exhibited at the Paris Salon and bearing James Bourlet & Sons labels. Contemporary themes are explored in Peter J. Norman’s Assessing the Industrial Ruins, while historical resonance is found in a Cuzco School 19th century portrait of an archangel holding a rifle. Attributed works add further intrigue, such as Alfred Holst Tourrier’s On Guard, an oil on canvas bearing his monogrammed signature.

Completing the offering with a touch of humour, Linda Jane Smith’s charming gouache Fish and Chips for Supper! - complete with Halcyon Gallery label - will appeal to those who enjoy art with wit and warmth.

With pieces spanning traditional portraiture, coastal landscapes, modernist experimentation and playful contemporary works, this sale offers something to suit every taste and wall.
