This eclectic sale brings together a rich variety of ceramics, glass, bronzes and decorative wares, with pieces spanning East and West, tradition and novelty.
Ceramics are particularly well represented, from a Moorcroft “Hot Air Balloons” vase designed by Jeanne McDougall circa 1999, to a selection of Royal Crown Derby in the ever-popular Imari 1128 pattern, including an elegant ewer and a striking lozenge form dish with acorn moulded handles. Collectors of Asian art will note a Yongzheng period octagonal famille rose plate finely decorated with a duck among blossoming peonies, alongside a Qing dynasty famille rose seal paste box featuring figures riding a qilin.
Among the decorative wares is a Japanese bronze vase with relief decoration of a parrot in a gingko tree, and a Liberty & Co. Tudric pewter three-piece tea service with hammered finish, each piece stamped Tudric Pewter 0966. Quirky charm is found in a Victorian novelty cast brass inkwell modelled as a tortoise, offered together with a brass model of a recumbent water buffalo. Modern British craftsmanship is represented by a Gillies Jones of Rosedale green glass bowl with black rim, while collectors of English porcelain will enjoy a set of Shelley Queen Anne “Balloon Tree” pattern cups and saucers.
The variety continues with sculpture, including a striking piece after Ivan Meštrović depicting a bull upon a marble plinth, and in printed works with a 1915 edition of Alice in Wonderland Stories Old and New, illustrated by Frank Adams and inscribed with a personal dedication.
With objects of beauty, rarity and whimsy, this sale offers something to tempt every collector. Browse the full selection and place your bids now.
