We are delighted to present our inaugural Yorkshire Masters & Makers sale – a landmark auction celebrating the artists, craftsmen and workshops whose work is intrinsically linked to the county.

Leading the sale is an outstanding group of Mouseman furniture by Robert Thompson of Kilburn, including the important 1937 refectory table commissioned for Westminster Church House, a rare 1940s vestibule door, and a finely crafted adzed bureau. These are joined by further notable pieces such as a pair of triple mouse bookends and an early burr oak joint stool, demonstrating the quality and appeal of Thompson’s work.

The sale also features a strong representation of Yorkshire’s wider carving tradition, with distinctive works by makers such as Rabbitman, Gnomeman and Beaverman, offering both sculptural character and practical craftsmanship.

In the fine art section, highlights include Owen Bowen’s Collingham Bridge Near Wetherby, alongside John Ridgewell’s view of Richmond and James Leslie Brooke’s depiction of Castle Hill, Huddersfield – each capturing the landscapes and identity of Yorkshire. Sculpture is led by Sally Arnup’s bronze Labrador, a striking and characterful study.

Beyond these key pieces, the catalogue unfolds into a rich and varied offering, encompassing further Yorkshire oak furniture, paintings, studio ceramics, decorative works and maps. Together, they present a broader picture of the region’s creative heritage, from everyday craftsmanship to highly individual artistic expression.

Carefully curated and deeply rooted in place, Yorkshire Masters & Makers offers a compelling opportunity to acquire works that reflect the skill, tradition and distinct character of Yorkshire. Explore the full catalogue and place your bids today.
