Sell Thomas 'Gnomeman' Whittaker of Littlebeck Furniture at Auction

Thomas 'Gnomeman' Whittaker of Littlebeck (1910-1991) was a masterful furniture maker, widely regarded as perhaps the most skilled craftsman following the legendary Robert Thompson. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Whittaker never worked for Thompson's Mouseman brand. Instead, he forged his own path by establishing a successful business near Whitby. Known for his distinctive "critter" carvings, particularly his signature gnomes, Whittaker's work is celebrated for its exquisite craftsmanship and whimsical charm. His legacy endures in the finely crafted pieces that continue to enchant and inspire furniture enthusiasts and artisans alike.

Discover the beauty of Gnomeman and Yorkshire Oak furniture at Dugglebys, where a strong demand for these pieces is met with our extensive expertise. With a notable focus on the craftsmanship of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson and his Yorkshire contemporaries, our auctions consistently achieve high prices for these coveted items.
