This week at Duggleby’s brings together seven auctions across garden, interiors, rugs, jewellery, watches, art, antiques and collectables. From cast stone garden lions and hand-knotted Persian carpets to diamond jewellery, marine watercolours, Lalique glass and vintage golf clubs, there is plenty to explore for collectors, home makers and first-time bidders alike. Here are some of the highlights.

Garden, Home & Commercial Assets

The Garden, Home & Commercial Assets Sale brings together a varied mix of decorative, practical and leisure pieces, with items suited to outdoor spaces, home use and everyday projects. A pair of cast stone heraldic lions, Lot 11, brings strong architectural presence to the garden section. Modelled standing upright with flowing manes, each lion clasps an armorial shield moulded with a crowned lion, raised on rectangular pedestals. Estimated at £300 to £500, they would make a striking addition to an entrance, courtyard, terrace or garden path. 

A Jutlandia rattan garden furniture set, Lot 59, offers a ready-made outdoor seating arrangement. Comprising a corner sofa, rectangular glass-top table, side table and two armchairs, all with cushions, it is a practical choice for summer entertaining, patios and garden rooms, with an estimate of £400 to £500. For a more modern leisure highlight, the Cyrusher XF690 Plus electric fat tyre bicycle, Lot 193, features suspension forks, disc brakes, a rear pannier bag and a blue and black finish, combining bold styling with practical off-road inspired design. Estimate £300-500.

Persian & Oriental Rugs & Carpets

The Persian & Oriental Rugs & Carpets Sale features hand-knotted carpets and runners in a range of sizes, colours and traditional designs, offering pieces suitable for both formal and relaxed interiors. A North West Persian Ahar hand-knotted carpet, Lot 500, is one of the leading highlights, estimated at £800 to £1,000. Its madder red ground is centred by a large shaped floral medallion with pendants, surrounded by angular scrolling foliate motifs, rosettes, palmettes and stylised flowerheads. Ivory spandrels and a dark navy border give the carpet strong decorative balance.

A Central Persian Kashan hand-knotted carpet, Lot 501, offers a lighter palette, with an estimate of £500 to £700. The ivory ground is decorated with a central floral medallion and scrolling foliate motifs, enclosed by a conforming ivory border with repeating palmettes and meandering vines. Elegant and finely detailed, it would suit a sitting room, bedroom or formal reception space. For hallways and transitional spaces, a North West Persian runner, Lot 512, is estimated at £80 to £150. Its red field is decorated with repeating herati motifs and small flowerheads, enclosed by a cream main border and narrow guard borders, making it an accessible way to introduce colour, pattern and warmth into the home.

Jewellery & Watches

The Jewellery & Watches Sale brings together fine diamond jewellery and collectable watches, with highlights ranging from high-carat brilliance to classic stainless steel wristwatches. An 18ct white gold diamond bracelet, Lot 2028, is a standout jewellery lot, estimated at £10,000 to £12,000. Set with thirty-eight round brilliant cut diamonds and stamped 750, it has an impressive total diamond weight of approximately 11.45 carats. With its clean white metal setting and substantial diamond presence, it is a striking piece for collectors of fine jewellery.

A pair of platinum diamond earrings, Lot 2024, offers classic simplicity at an estimate of £1,000 to £1,500. Each earring is stud set with a single round brilliant cut diamond, with a total diamond weight of approximately 1.05 carats. Stamped PT 950, they are the kind of timeless jewellery staple that remains consistently desirable. For watch collectors, an Omega Seamaster gentleman’s stainless steel automatic chronometer wristwatch, Lot 2183, is also estimated at £1,000 to £1,500. Reference 168.1623, with Cal. 1120 movement, blue wave dial, luminous dot and baton hour markers, date aperture and blue rotating bezel, it has the recognisable Seamaster look and everyday wearability collectors often seek. It is offered on an Omega stainless steel bracelet with fold-over clasp and box.

Furniture & Rugs

The Furniture & Rugs Sale offers traditional furniture, occasional pieces, seating and floor coverings, with lots suited to furnishing projects and characterful interiors. An early 20th century Georgian design figured walnut kneehole desk, Lot 1010, brings traditional writing furniture into the sale at an estimate of £200 to £400. With a rectangular moulded top, long frieze drawer, kneehole recess with cupboard and drawer above, and six short drawers with oval pressed brass handle plates, it has a practical layout and classic proportions.

A pair of mid-20th century beechwood fauteuil armchairs, Lot 1020, offers an affordable seating option, estimated at £50 to £100. Upholstered in terracotta velvet fabric, with padded armrests, scroll detail and tapered fluted supports, they provide warmth of colour and a relaxed vintage look. Adding a contemporary furnishing element, a Rugs by Design Nepalese wool rug, Lot 1035, carries an estimate of £200 to £400. The cream field is decorated with a repeating diamond trellis enclosing scrolling foliate motifs in blue, burgundy and ochre, within a chain-link border, making it a versatile piece for adding pattern, colour and softness to a room.

Affordable Art

The Affordable Art Sale brings together watercolours, oils and works on paper across a range of subjects, with estimates that make collecting accessible. George Chambers Snr’s Sailboats Bracing Rough Seas, Lot 4027, is a small but atmospheric marine watercolour, estimated at £200 to £400. Chambers was known for his coastal and maritime subjects, and this signed work captures the drama of sailboats meeting rough weather within a compact format.

Malcolm Coward’s Skewbald Horse, Lot 4049, offers strong equestrian appeal at an estimate of £200 to £300. Painted in oil on canvas and signed, the work reflects Coward’s recognised interest in sporting and animal subjects, presenting the horse with character and confidence. A pair of Northern Italian views by Felice Auguste Rezia, Lot 4070, brings continental landscape interest to the sale, estimated at £150 to £250. Depicting a stone tower on a lake and a church overlooking a river, each oil on canvas is signed and dated 1902. Together, they offer a decorative pair with architectural charm and period atmosphere.

Antique & Decorative Objects

The Antiques & Decorative Objects Sale includes glass, ceramics, porcelain, collectables and decorative pieces. Lalique Chrysis, Lot 1, is a frosted glass figure inspired by the original 1931 car mascot designed by René Lalique. Estimated at £150 to £200, and engraved Lalique France to the base, it has the elegance and sculptural quality associated with the Lalique name.

A Royal Crown Derby Large Indian Elephant paperweight, Lot 6, was made for Mulberry Hall and is offered with gold stopper, certificate and original box. Limited edition number 54 of 500, and estimated at £150 to £200, it brings together Royal Crown Derby’s rich patterning, collectable animal form and limited edition appeal. A Royal Doulton bulldog wearing a Union Jack, Lot 16, is a small but characterful ceramic collectable, estimated at £50 to £100. With its patriotic design and compact scale, it has broad appeal for collectors of Royal Doulton, bulldog figures and British-themed decorative objects.

Affordable Antiques: Collectors, Pictures & Jewellery

The Affordable Antiques Sale offers a broad selection of collectables, ceramics, silver, vintage items and decorative pieces at accessible estimates. A silver mounted dressing table mirror with six silver handled knives, Lot 5000, offers a useful group of hallmarked silver-mounted pieces. Estimated at £50 to £100, it has traditional dressing table appeal and practical collectability. A collection of Royal Doulton figures, Lot 5135, includes miniatures such as The Balloon Seller HN2130, The Old Balloon Seller HN2129 and Good King Wenceslas, together with a Coalport figure and others. With an estimate of £20 to £50, the group offers an approachable way to build or expand a ceramics collection.

A set of eight hickory golf clubs with canvas golf bag, Lot 5137, brings sporting interest to the catalogue at an estimate of £50 to £100. Early and traditional golf equipment continues to attract buyers interested in sporting history, display pieces and club memorabilia, making this an appealing group for collectors.
