A circular 9ct gold snooker winner's medal, decorated in relief with a snooker player and engraved on the reverse with 'Neville Francis Fitzgerald Chamberlain.' Hallmarked London, 1915, including loop. Height: 4.5 cm.
Notes: Sir Neville Francis Fitzgerald Chamberlain (1856-1944), a British Indian Army officer and Inspector-General of the Royal Irish Constabulary, is credited with inventing snooker in 1875 while serving in Jubbulpore, India. Sold: £340.
