Sixteen auctions and 1,803 lots sold made for a busy October. The month ran from medals and flintlock pistols to Star Wars replicas, from Maori carving and Bronze Age daggers to medium format cameras and from a vibraphone and a handmade cittern to Art Deco lighting. Along the way, a set of six medals came with a photograph of the soldier's troop, a cittern turned out to have been commissioned back in 1977 and a signed World Cup book carried thirteen famous names on a single page.

Here are some of the results that stood out.

Made by Hand, Kept with Care

October kept returning to objects shaped by a particular person and kept by another. A soldier's medals were stored with a photograph of his troop. A cittern was commissioned in 1977 and has been looked after ever since. A book was signed by thirteen footballing names, and a set of anatomical posters was framed and preserved. Items like these are often sitting quietly in homes across Yorkshire, in attics, cupboards and spare rooms. If you have something similar and are thinking of selling, we would be glad to take a look.
